“Eggcorns”
What is an eggcorn? In this article, the author states:
“Mind-bottling”, “jar-dropping”, and “lame man’s terms” are all eggcorns, a type of common and somewhat logical language goof named after a misspelling of “acorn”.
“…eggcorns aren’t eggcorns unless they make at least a little bit of sense.”
Some more eggcorns:
“without further adieu” instead of without further ado
“duck tape” instead of duct tape
And finally one that I always use:
“party hardy” instead of party hearty
Interesting.
